Annual Club Awards - Due to Covid, this has been paused, and may be restarted in this format, or in another.
Dinner ceremony - An annual social evening event to recognize the dedication, perseverance, and skills and performance of our members. The evening is fun, entertaining and very engaging. Again, this was paused during Covid, and may return.

Events
Many regular events are held throughout the year. These events provide opportunities to compete, socialize and to meet new people:
BRC Blue Ribbon Series : The Blue Ribbon Series is an in-house competition based both on predicting your time accurately and speed. It's got a few different events, and coffee and snacks are always provided.
STRAVA Competition. Based on most total distance , runs, elevation, and the fastest average pace.
Burlington Robbie Burns 8km Race. This road race is usually held in late January every year, and is organized by the club; every member is encourage to participate as a runner or as a volunteer.
Sulphur Springs Trails Races: held every year at the end of May in the Dundas Conservation Area. This is one of the premier trail runs in Canada, and sells out with participants from all over North America and beyond. The distances range from 10k to 100k, or beyond, at the Race Director's discretion.
Annual General Meeting – Board of Directors for the coming year are elected, the current operating structures and new projects are discussed as well as details of the financial status of the club. Refreshments are provided.
Joining the Burlington Runners Club is easy and rewarding. While we come together through running, we stay together through friendship and camaraderie.
As a member you will become part of this unique club and enjoy the many privileges of being a club member.
Group Runs
Feel free to come and join us anytime you like, whether you're a member or not. Check us out.
The longstanding group run is at 8:30 on Saturdays, meeting at Aldershot Pool. When they're open, we have free access to the showers after our run. Usually, we also meet at Williams Coffee Pub at the Power Centre afterwards. Members who don't run with us also come then.
Sunday mornings at 8 (7 in the summer), a group usually meets at LaSalle Park for longer runs, various distances and speeds. The best way to connect with this group ahead of time is by putting a note on the members FB page or the BRC whatsapp group chat.
NEW! Join us on Thursday evenings at 6 at the YMCA on Drury Lane for a tempo run; 1km warm up, 6km faster run, 1km cool down. All paces welcome!
Informal pairs and groups of runners meet throughout the week at various locations in Burlington, Hamilton and Oakville for both short and long runs, as well as track work (seasonal). As a member, you'll have access to our BRC Strava and Facebook pages, as well as an option to join our WhatsApp group.
Voting Rights
BRC is a registered Not-for-Profit corporation in the province of Ontario. In support of this, all members (over 18) are provided voting privileges at the Annual General Meeting. The Burlington Runners fiscal year of October 1st to September 30th. Note that the membership year differs and is simply a calendar year.
Club-subsidized trip
Pre-Covid, BRC has organized and subsidized bus and car trips to destination races selected by the membership. Some of our trips have been to The Montreal Marathon, Columbus Marathon, Boston Marathon, Marine Corps Marathon, Wine Glass Marathon/Relay and JFK Ultra Marathon.
Members-only events
We start the year with the Resolution Run and enjoy social events through out the year, (fondly known as "Beer Runs").
Club Apparel
Members will soon be able to order distinctive and functional running gear emblazoned with the well recognized BRC Runners logo.
The annual fee of $30.00 for a single member is possible because of the funds the club earns in our races. It is our intention to continue to make running in a community based, volunteer run organization available and affordable for another fifty years. Our founders gave us a great club, and it's our privilege and responsibility to pay it forward.
